(Be) Come. {Poem}

Rejection: I’ve gotten it all wrong.

It’s not a unilateral cessation and denial of another’s worth or importance.

No, it’s not that. That’s not it.

It’s this:

The rejected is being offered a blessing,

An invitation that holds the key

To unlocking the door;

Nudging her over the threshold of what isn’t,

Into what is,

And the limitless possibilities of what will come…

  1. This is a beautiful and timeless perspective on what we would call “rejection.” Thank you for sharing your realization. Seems like it’s only rejection if we quit after it happens. If we take the time needed to become aware of the blessing path, then rejection should be given a new name altogether.
