I Deserve To Be…{Poem}

I write in the first person singular. I do it on purpose.

Writing publicly over the years I’ve learned: the more intimate and detailed I am with my words and my messages, the more universal and relatable they become.

Writing subjectively creates intimacy.
Intimacy creates trust.
Trust fuels love.
Love is the subject of life.
When I trust that I deserve to love and be loved,
I find my voice; I find my voice in your voice…

I deserve to belong

I deserve to be trusted

I deserve to be a friend

I deserve to be a mother

I deserve to be thanked and appreciated

I deserve to be a priority

I deserve to be pursued

I deserve to be taken on a date

I deserve to feel a hand at my back

I deserve to be the reason for a smile

I deserve to be held

I deserve to be touched

I deserve to be missed

I deserve to be desired

I deserve to be enjoyed

I deserve to be a yes, never a maybe

I deserve to be adored

I deserve to be needed

I deserve to have needs

I deserve to feel what I feel

I deserve to change my mind

I deserve to be given opportunity

I deserve to say no

I deserve to say yes

I deserve to make mistakes

I deserve to ask for forgiveness

I deserve to be forgiven

I deserve to do what I love and get paid for it

I deserve what I have and what I don’t have

I deserve to love

I deserve to be loved

I deserve to be me. ~Rebecca
