The Chase. {Poem}

My mind

She’s the bolting kind

She runs away every chance she gets

Begs me to chase her like we’re little kids

So I do

I try to catch her and lose each time

She’s too fast

She outpaces my stride

With the others, she loves to collide

I stop to pick her up, and her and him, too

They run together and then disappear

What do I do?

Confusion set in

Which way do I go?

Where do I even begin?

On this cat and mouse chase

That I’ll never win

Sometimes, she plays tricks on me

She hides somewhere I can’t find

I don’t bother searching

With this clarity, I bide

It doesn’t last for long

Before she’s back again

And the chase continues

Between me and my lifelong friend. ~Rebecca
